Xbox Denies Reports Its Stock Is Being Pulled From Walmart And Target

Fears that Xbox stock is being removed from even more major retailers swirled over the weekend when reports that Target and Walmart might be giving up on its consoles and games began to surface. Xbox has now assuaged those fears somewhat, issuing a statement claiming that is not the case.

Xbox reached out to Windows Central in the wake of people sharing images and anecdotes from Walmart and Target locations across the US, most of whose Xbox sections looked somewhat barren. Despite that, the Xbox statement reads, “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.”

There Are Reportedly No Official Plans To Pull Xbox Stock From Walmart And Target

That seemingly means, for now at least, Xbox stock isn’t about to disappear from Walmart and Target shelves forever. Although if it did, it wouldn’t be the first time Xbox has reassured customers of one thing only for the exact opposite to happen. For now, though, this hopefully means if you want to buy an Xbox Series X or S at Walmart or Target, the prices of which have increased twice this year, you should, in theory, still be able to.

While they might not be disappearing from those particular store shelves immediately, evidence that Xbox stuff is becoming harder to find at Walmart and Target goes beyond people claiming they work there reporting that stock is being pulled. We checked on the stock of Xbox products amid reports of even more retailers giving up on the brand, with some locations having as few as one Series S available.

The Walmart and Target fears also come off the back of Costco and Sam’s Club pulling Xbox stock from their shelves. Costco was the first, quickly confirming that it was a “business decision” to stop selling Xbox hardware in its stores. If the same fate is going to befall Xbox products in Walmart and Target, we may need to wait for a similar, more official statement from the retailers themselves.

Whether you’ll still be able to buy an Xbox and the games to go along with it from Walmart and Target for the foreseeable future or not, these are turbulent times for Xbox right now. The decision to up the prices of Xbox Game Pass to $29.99 a month resulted in so many subscribers ditching the service that the cancellation page crashed. There have also been rumors that the Series X|S will be Xbox’s final console, but those claims have also been denied by Xbox.
