After watching the trailers it got me thinking about the light temple and I decided to dive deep into the beta and cut content. Seven years ago a cut dungeon was reconstructed and when we analyze it we start seeing a strong possibility that it was meant to be the light temple. We dive deep in the meaning of this discovery for the Ocarina of Time Remake.

I feel like some of the Light Temple ideas were used on the Tower of the Gods
Good video! However, I don't think they'll include the cut Light Temple, for 2 reasons:
(1) too much of it was turned into Ganon's Castle.
(2) the parts that weren't used for Ganon's Castle seem to have been reimagined as the Temple of Time (covered in Light Medallion imagery) in Twilight Princess.
I also think that it might not have been a Temple of Light dungeon but rather might have been a Hyrule Castle + Castle Tower dungeon a la A Link ot the Past.
But in any case, a lot of the ideas from this seem to have already been explored in Twilight Princess. And if not there, in The Wind Waker's Hyrule Castle area and Tower of the Gods dungeon, and in Majora's Mask's Stone Tower Temple.
Ocarina of Time is left with ideas that would feel cobbled together and not cohesive or as a shadow of more refined versions of the "Light Dungeon" concept in later titles.
Nor will Ice Cavern become an extra Temple, but it may be more fleshed out as a longer dungeon or with a new entrance that is fully hidden from Zora's Fountain in the early game.
I think it has the bright look because it is building on Mario 64s game engine. And the face torches is a result of the designers not yet having figured out how a 3d-zelda environment should look, so they simply carried over something from A Link to the Past where dungeons had more face-looking decorations. Also, look at how cartoony the enemies look, they were merely playing around with Link in a 3d environment at this time. possibly, this is from when they tinkered with the idea of using the castle as a hub world. The carpet leading to a wall might just be nothing, or a path that was supposed to lead to a portal into one of the levels, like in Mario 64, as this was an early idea for the game. It is certainly not the light temple.
Link being able to jump freely is not a clue of the game bringing back beta content. Its such a simple and sensible idea to streamline OOT's gameplay that having a jump button is one of the very first thing new players who know nothing about the beta always question. Even mentioning it is a moot point because its just such a simple and reasonable idea.
Almost all the evidence you've presented can be explained by simply saying "it was a good idea" that the developers had in a vacuum rather than them looking at beta content.
The updated map is the ONLY evidence you presented that shows promise. The Death Mountain and Ice Cavern do seem to be redesigned to a point where a major change it a reasonable conclusion.
Sounds AI scripted
"Why this Matters" 💀
I REALLY hope they move the ice arrows and iron boots back to their original locations
The ice arrows got terrible shafted for it and the iron boots became painfully overused
That beta dungeon is literally Ganon’s Castle when it was a hub world. It got scrapped then they tried another approach. It’s also creative leftover from ALttP development, the statues and level structure is very 2D Zelda from its time. The lack of eyes on some is simply because it’s not finished. And it was NOT the Temple of Light ever. If it they did work on Temple of Light, it would’ve looked closer to Chamber of Sages or Temple of Time. They probably also experimented that first person Link idea in this dungeon before scrapping THAT too.
Light temple is like 😛
ok maybe its good they cut it cuz those eyeball totems would have given me nightmares as a child
When you need to get a particular word count in an essay:
As ever, internet nerds putting the cart before the horse. This beta dungeon is just that – a half-sketched assortment of rooms without any meaningful theme, intended as an exercise in designing a 3D Zelda game. You can see this most clearly in those knight like enemies in the room with the circle of light on the floor – they're clearly a 3D equivalent of ALttP's Armos Knight fight i.e. this was from a stage of development when the team were testing out 3D design by implementing ideas very directly from the 2D predecessor. This was not the 'light dungeon'. Your evidence to suggest it is is so flimsy I can't even believe anyone is half-agreeing.
Didn't they want OoT to take place in Ganon's castle and wanted to use paintings to teleport around like in Mario 64?
Nintendo is lame. They are just going to give you the same game in 4D graphics. Maybe even with less content that the original game.
Did you have a youtube channel that was not about gaming? I heard your voice before but can't put my finger on it
the only thing about this is that, unless as an easter egg, it would be impossible to prominently add a new temple without altering the story. and the impression i've gotten so far is that they're not interested in necessarily 'rewriting' any aspect of ocarina's story, just filling it in in an attempt to make the game most important to the foundations of this franchise second only to the original title age just a bit nicer in a landscape that can actually afford those details now. they're not adding anything to the picture but they are coloring it in a bit more.
i'd still like if they added it, though, and they just don't make a big deal of it in the story. kind of a "dumbledor was always gay it just wasn't important to the story" type deal. "nah, nah, it was always there it just wasn't important to the story. except for the one time link went in and learned the song that lets you literally control the rising and setting of the entire fucking sun. which we're now deciding was important, but that wasn't important then. for reasons" all according to keikaku
its just an early version of ..you guessed it, gannons tower
After seeing the revealed gameplay, some of my wishful thinking will unlikely happen, like the medallion being useful item, not just a story item, crossing fingers for the Light Temple, it could happen as a first Temple or the last
Lmao they wont add anything significant is a 1:1 re skin
One more month……
Just one more month……..
The wait is already torture X _ X
You seem to be omitting a very crucial detail in favor to make this redundant video: That in every single leak, early footage, interviews, etc. the one thing all have in common is that there is no mention whatsoever of a Temple of Light dungeon. As such it will NOT be any such thing for this remake.
What a waste of time. Many things looked different early in development compared to how they ended up. That’s why Ganon’s Tower looks different. And not even that much compared to the N64 one.
That’s cool that you think that and all :^)
I appreciate the video but I do think most of this is wishful thinking. Also maybe this is a nit pick but Shiek's weapon is a tanto. A wakizashi is a medium-length sword, just a little shorter than a katana.
It would be so awesome if we got a Light Temple where we play entirely as Navi only, with very different mechanics (e.g. flying etc like 3:23), in order to find Link and awaken his spirit. Could even use Dark Link as the dungeon boss, so Navi expels darkness from his body but cannot fully defeat him yet until he reappears in Water Temple.
This idea is even compatible with current canon, since we just never got to see Navi's quest in the original having only Link's perspective! And the Light theme is perfect for a fairy quest!
The room with the glowing light makes me think of exposing Blind in A Link to the Past, and that makes sense because You wouldn't meet shadow monsters in a Light Temple but blind ones. Maybe some Stalfos and Garos too if they wanted to push the theme of undead thieves separate from the contemporary Gerudo. Either way I really like theory put forward in the video as well as the subtle callbacks from the developers.
Wait, are you also Josh Prime?
I don´t think we will get a light Temple. Let´s imagine it takes place right after Link turns adult, you have no introduction, no Item to put in the temple. No gameplay motivation to put a temple into the already existing order. It would undoubtedly change the entire game.
So actually i have a lot more to say here. First you have to remember that in the earliest versions of Ocarina of Time, the game would take place entirely inside Ganons Castle, serving as a hub world much like the castle in SM64. This idea was later reworked into the final dungeon. If you want to really hunt for remnants of a Temple of light, you need to start thinking about when in the development cycle they started to take the themes of the elements and started working on seperate standalone temples.
The demo level with the faces was probably a much earlier version of the game, purely cooked up to have something to show to press members. You would play some rooms, fight a knight and in the final chest it would probably be the Triforce and a text that says "Thanks for Playing the Demo. Ocarina Of time will release in 1997!"
I doubt we will anything this expansive, but man can dream
It's clearly early presentation of Ganons tower, the light temple was planned, but never went ahead, therefore it probably didn't even get a design.
They got moai 🗿!
that area was confirmed to be the original hub world
