Best Big Walk Mods

Big Walk is built around exploring, solving puzzles, messing around with friends, and taking in its strange little world at a relaxed pace. Mods can make that experience even more flexible. They can help you get smoother movement, better graphics, faster travel, or simply more control over the items and equipment available.

Some mods add useful quality-of-life additions, while others are designed for testing, experimentation, or turning the game into something much faster. Here are the best Big Walk mods worth trying, along with everything needed to install them.

Best Mods for Big Walk

The Big Voice mod adds an in-game menu that allows individual player voice volumes to be adjusted separately. Players can increase another person’s voice volume by up to 15x, while also setting a default volume for new players.

So, if someone is talking, but you can’t hear them, you can boost that specific teammate’s sound without affecting everyone else’s volume. The default menu key is F10, although this can be changed. It is a simple addition, but it can make a noticeable difference during multiplayer sessions.

Big Visuals is the mod to choose when the goal is making Big Walk look better. It unlocks additional graphics settings that are normally unavailable and also adds an FOV slider supporting values of up to 150.

The mod provides control over render scale, anti-aliasing, shadow cascades, shadow resolution, upscaling filters, and LOD quality. Everything can be adjusted through an in-game configuration menu, which opens with F11 by default.

Big Actions changes one of Big Walk‘s multiplayer-focused mechanics by letting a player manage their own backpack and belt. This means items can be stored, removed, equipped, and unequipped without needing another player to help.

The default keys are 1 for the backpack and 2 for the belt. It is a surprisingly useful mod for solo experimentation, although the creator recommends avoiding it during a first playthrough because it bypasses some of the co-op design.

Enhanced Controls by Masaicker

Enhanced Controls is arguably one of the best quality-of-life mods for a normal Big Walk playthrough. It smooths out a lot of the small frustrations. Quick Stand Up lets players stand immediately by pressing Sit, Sprint, or Jump while sitting, sliding, transitioning, or recovering from a fall. Raised Prop Lock Speed reduces the amount of time required to lock a raised prop.

Jump Assist makes platforming more forgiving by adding a brief jump buffer and coyote time, giving players a little extra leeway when timing jumps. Auto Run is another useful addition. It comes in handy during long stretches of traveling.

Everything is enabled by default, but each feature can be switched off through the configuration file.

Big SpeedUp by kevin0036

Big SpeedUp does exactly what its name suggests, but it gives players more control than a simple speed cheat. Three separate speed multipliers can be configured for the player, train, and chairlift.

The default multiplier for all three is 2x, while values between 0.25x and 10x are supported. Player speed affects the local player’s grounded walking and running, while train and chairlift speeds are host authoritative.

If only the host has the mod installed, the transport speed affects the whole room, while only the host receives the increased player movement speed. If everyone installs it, each player can use their own movement multiplier.

Source Movement brings a very different movement style to Big Walk. It adds air strafing and momentum-preserving bunny hops while keeping the game’s normal ground movement for stairs and slopes.

The mod synchronizes air movement with the camera, so players can build and preserve momentum while moving through the air. Bunnyhopping requires holding Jump, releasing Forward after takeoff, and then using Right with mouse movement to the right or Left with mouse movement to the left for air strafing.

It is a particularly fun choice for players who want to experiment with movement rather than simply make the game easier.

Big Run by BayTurtleKing

Big Run is for players who think Big Walk sometimes takes the “walk” part a little too seriously. With a configurable keybind, the mod increases movement speed and jump power. The default activation key is J, while the default multiplier is 6x the normal value.

That makes it useful for quickly crossing the map, revisiting locations, or simply messing around with Big Walk‘s physics. The mod’s speed multiplier can be configured, giving players control over just how extreme the movement becomes.

It’s recommended to install Big Landing alongside this mod because moving at high speeds can otherwise leave the character dazed after landing.

Item Debug by MeowkertonSir

Big Walk Item Debug

Item Debug is easily one of the most useful Big Walk mods. Big Walk normally relies on other players for certain equipment interactions, which makes some items awkward or impossible to test alone. This mod gets around that limitation by letting the player select props already loaded into the world and attach them to different equipment slots.

The Gear tab lets players browse nearby props and place them into the backpack, belt, blindfold, or hands. There is also a Color tab that allows the character’s head, torso, legs, or entire body to be recolored using the game’s palette.

Item Debug does not spawn new objects. It uses props that already exist in the loaded world.

How to Install Mods in Big Walk

How to Install Mods Big Walk

Installing mods in Big Walk is pretty simple. Most mods require BepInEx 6 IL2CPP to work. Follow these steps to get everything set up:

  • Download the BepInEx 6.0.0-be.785+6abdba4 IL2CPP Windows x64 build required by the mods.
  • Open Steam and right-click Big Walk in the library. Select Manage, then Browse Local Files. This opens the game’s main installation directory. Paste the BepInEx folder there.
  • Launch Big Walk and wait for it to reach the main menu. Then close it. This first launch allows BepInEx to create the folders and configuration files required for mods.
  • Go to “Big Walk/BepInEx/plugins/”. This is where most Big Walk mod DLL files need to be placed.
  • Download the desired mod and extract its files. Place the required .dll file into the BepInEx/plugins folder. Some mods specify their own subfolder, so keep the folder structure provided by the mod creator when necessary.
  • Start Big Walk after installing the mod. If everything is set up correctly, BepInEx will load the mod automatically.

Many mods create a configuration file inside Big Walk/BepInEx/config/ after the first launch. Open the relevant .cfg file with a text editor to change things such as keybinds, movement multipliers, graphics settings, or other options.
