The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Is More Different Than You Think | IGN Preview

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is far from a 1:1 remake. When I played it, I found familiar rooms containing redesigned challenges that change how the world and player function. I spoke to old friends who had new things to say that added texture to Hyrule and its people. And, I unpacked how its updated controls and detailed art design redefine its old-school combat and puzzle solving for the modern day. This remake isn’t about scope; it’s about depth. The Zelda series is full of old stories, and the Ocarina of Time remake presents itself as a legend retold, with clear theatrical inspirations that have completely changed how I’m approaching it. Young link looks so weird

I’ve only played BotW and TotK, and they were the best games I’ve ever played. Would you recommend that I buy a Switch 2 just for this game?

Favatar

I can't see this.
I want to see this but I can't see this.
I haven't been this excited for a release in years.

Where can I find the "special episode of Nintendo voice chat" that he mentions at the end of the video?

Favatar

For all the shit people talk about IGN, theyve never bothered me.

This was a very thoughtful preview that found a great angle to discuss the game and actually recontextualized the game for me. Top marks to the writer and editor!

I'm done with IGN. It has been enshittified for years. More than ads than ever, worst quality, rushed reviews and previews, and confusing busy website layout. I hope you have to go through the same suffering that your fired employees do. You will. You're hurting behind the scenes, but at the end of the day, you're jut collecting profit at the top for executives, owners, and investors. You're just coasting on legacy, but that's over now. We get our content from real, honest, and good media.

You play as adult link?? Spoiler much? 😡

Favatar

Already preordered my physical copy, at least Nintendo appreciates physical media.

Favatar

Correct. Luckily I grew up as a child playing the original so an interactive movie is fine for me. But boy the respect and expectations of intelligence are completely out the window now. Gone are the times of figuring things out, trial and error, looking around, having consequences for failing.

Spoiler alert?😂 if anyone out there has still not played this masterpiece of a game by now….Well then just give up.😂

The texture, art style, and scale of things also invoke marionettes, specific Japanese puppet theater. So, yes, very theatrical.

This is what I wanted for the FF7 remake. Basically the same game but with modern graphics and a few minor changes here and there..

Greatest game of all time

Favatar

Interesting, the only real problem I am sniffing right away is that smaller world perception, everything else seems fine to me at this stage.

Can`t wait for the PC or PS5 Port 😂

I love how everyone is saying its a good vid as its saying good things about something they like lmao.

This is a breath of fresh air after hearing all the negative discourse. Not that it's not valid, but it's nice to hear a different perspective.

I hoping young people enjoy this game as much as I and probably all of you did with the original. Breath of the wild was missing allot of what made Zelda great.

1:53 KANYE??!!!!!!!

Favatar

Looking forward to a PC Port, looks great and it would be fun to play through the story again.

Spoilers* I can see why they did the acid pool instead of an empty floor but I still think the empty floor was cooler. It also made sense because you get the hover boots later from the Shadow Temple, like you actually got that power that the stalfos had. Also I appreciate the falling log ledge in the great deku tree, but why change the wooden ladder that was pulled up by skulltulas and looked so natural into such an elaborate mechanism dropping a stone ladder? Some of the organic and mysterious aspects of this game have changed into clear cut ideas that almost hinder the immersive nature of the game. It's all welcome changes, but it surely will feel different to play. The subtext will be the real challenge. More subtext does not always equal more depth. Sometimes it's those moments where characters say nothing that speak the loudest, let's hope those still exist.

Back in the day, beating the Water Temple without guides, or even Google for that matter, was trully a challenge, and SO satisfying! I feel like games today demand much less patience, and are therefore less fulfilling. OoT is unforgettable

Nintendo still killing it with the Switch 2🔥
