Clearer Interface & Smoother Navigation | FM27 Feature Deep Dive

In the first of our FM27 feature deep dives, Associate Game Director Rémy Boicherot and Senior Features Manager Ant Farley detail the improvements and updates that evolve the interface, giving you greater control and smoother discovery as you navigate your game world.

From the moment your save begins, you’ll discover a more intuitive and familiar experience with primary and secondary navigation changes that empower you to more easily explore the wider game world.

For FM27, we’ve reworked the logic of the UI to recognise your preferences and adapt to whatever screen size and resolution settings you have. Whether you’re playing on a laptop or with a 4K monitor, you’ll now get a more optimal experience.

This is supported by the addition of a scaling mode controllable in Preferences. That’s one of a number of Preferences changes in FM27, supported by Secondary Navigation Landing Spots, Shortcut Remapping, Bookmarks and the introduction of Tile Swapping. These combine to put more control in your hands and make it easier to tailor your game to your managerial style.

Our goal with these changes is simple: for them to feel efficient and intuitive, so you can focus on discovery and exploring the wider footballing world. More relevant information in each screen and more ways to shape how you engage with the game means greater control and depth to your experience.

What I'd really like to see for FM28, is more interactive training, like watching out players in training matches, and training regimes. each day. to see player improvement visually not only with stats.

So just cosmetics again, have you tried using vibe coding to actually improve FM, its likely that it would actually have some real changes and improvements since you wont have to have 10 million town halls and meetings about nothing?

Please change coaching attributes back to numbers

Favatar

I wish the scout report would just show the players attributes first like the older games, so I don’t have to click again on the players profile to see them. I’m not really bothered about the actually scout report I just want to see the player attributes.

We need a better game engine and all the data that we lost back. That's the whole point of a management game. We don't need fancy colors and buttons that don't do anything, it's not FIFA. The game engine is a mess, with the animations and the gameplay, player decisions, bugs with shirts etc. It's barely playable and we have no data on the games but ofc we want to focus on the UI and bring new colors for a 50 euro broken game. It's a joke.

Thank you for listening to the community! It looks amazing and I'm so excited to experience the benefits of FM24's interface and navigation combined with the massive visual upgrade of FM26's matchday engine!

The fact that anybody playing the game would have better ideas than the team who made 2026 is absolutely crazy because the game is mostly text. I can't wait to cry in front of the "new" match engine. Will it have more than 3 animations by player ? The question itself is so intense…

Simply looks like they’ve rolled back to FM24, kept what worked from FM26 and mixed them together..

FM26 is the ONLY FM I have never been compelled to play. I hope this changes!

Please bring back the Trophy Room like FM 2024. With the trophy pack add-ons the trophy room in FM2024 looked great unlike FM2026 were you just get a list of trophies your club has won in the form of a list of trophy names and years when won.

This cosmetics stuff won't mean a thing , if u dont change the match engine. We are all sick and tired with the away bug and 1 shot 1 goal shit for 26 years….

Nice update so far! But can we actually see what improvements have been made to the match engine and on-pitch gameplay itself?

Also, when are we going to get 100% control over tactics? It’s frustrating having to pick from preset roles like CM, Channel Midfielder, or Midfield Playmaker instead of just setting up the team how we want(how they connect, the patterns we want, who moves where, shapes). I feel it is the ultimate FM experience.

Speaking of roles, the Advanced Playmaker in FM26 was really frustrating. When set to AM, they sit way too high up the pitch and barely contribute to creating play(they don't move around). FM23 had the exact opposite problem, where the AP sat too deep unless you put them on 'Attack'.

We really need a Defensive Midfielder that roams across the middle—similar to a Roaming Playmaker, but in the DM slot instead of CM(like a DLP that moves all round the middle). Also, something like the Midfield Playmaker (MPM) role for the DM position would be huge. Right now, roles like BBM and BBP in FM26 just drift too far wide or push too high(staying there) without actually helping in all situations of build up play.

On top of that, it’d be great to see Inverted Fullbacks and Wingbacks that don't just drift inside like central playmakers, but instead operate specifically in the channels between the wingers and central midfielders. The current roles, make them play as CM playmakers

Finally, there’s an issue with wide players that is really frustrating as it allows opposition to press and collect the ball there.. Roles like IW, IF, WF, and W are fine overall, but wingers drop far too deep—sometimes all the way to the halfway line—to pick up the ball. There’s currently no way to stop this. We need a role that is specifically like that or an instruction or setting that forces wide attackers to fix themselves onto the opponent's backline and hold width without dropping deep to connect play. If you try to use inside forwards for that function, they stay up more(better but not 100%) but then they get too narrow. We need a role that tells the wingers to stay up, and hand with the oppositions backline, so as to hold the back like, and also stretch it

I hope you understand everything I have communicated😊. Please, and thank you for your time

no thx, you killed this game when you changed the interface, and I'm sure I'm not the only open that thinks this, also on the rubish 2026 you still have errors and bugs after 2 years …so no thx
