How to Cure a Zombie Villager in Minecraft
The only way to bring an undead villager back to life is by giving them a golden apple while they are weakened. You don’t want it to despawn or be destroyed so you have to move fast to find a way to keep it alive.
Protect the Minecraft Zombie Villager
So the best thing to do after a village has been attacked is look for any extra mobs and get rid of them. It’s good to move fast here because the sun will rise eventually killing all the zombies including the turned villagers.
As for the zombie villagers, try to lure them into a safe spot. You can trap them in a house with a roof or trap them in a ditch filled with water. Anything to protect them from roasting in the sunlight.
How to Make a Splash Potion of Weakness in Minecraft
Getting a Splash Potion of Weakness is the hardest part of saving a villager. This is because of the materials needed to create one. First you’ll need a Potion of Weakness which calls for:
- Fermented Spider Eye
- Bottle of Water
Now with the potion you just made you’ll need to make it a Splash Potion by adding Gunpowder. Add the Gunpowder on a brewing stand with your Potion of Weakness to create the Splash Potion of Weakness.
How to Get a Golden Apple in Minecraft

Now in order to bring them back to life you need a Golden Apple. These are rare to come across which is why we protected the villager. You can potentially find them in leftover chests found at dungeons, and mineshafts.
If you don’t want to head too far away from the village to be sure the zombie villager won’t despawn, you can craft a Golden Apple if you have the materials. You’ll need the following to make a Golden Apple:
- Eight Gold Ingots
- Regular Apple
Put the apple in the center on the crafting table and fill the other spaces with the gold to create the golden apple.
Now that you’re prepared, head back to the zombie villager and hit it with the Splash Potion of Weakness first. Next you’ll feed it the Golden Apple causing it to shake. After a few minutes the zombification will revert leaving you with a normal villager.
