I love Skyrim, but Oblivion has such a bright atmosphere. The art, the architecture, the armor and wepaons – all so extremly detailed and with so much effort put into while still being authentic and believable. Even the simplest goddamn clothes in Oblivion are more detailed and alive than in Skyrim.

i loooove oblivion! i love the creepy atmosphere, the zoomin face and the over saturated color, the pudding looking npc, superb storyline and also sean bean. i couldn't wait to play skyblivion and beyond skyrim cyrodiil
My guy, you need to play Enderal. It's a total conversion mod made in Skyrim engine and it's better than Skyrim in many ways. Seriously. It's got its own page on Steam (make sure you get the Special Edition version, since I'm guessing that's the Skyrim you own). Go in blind and just… have fun.
I can't wait for Skywind because Morrowind has such a unique world and story, and they're making it every bit as cinematic and alive as Skyrim. Also excited for Skyrim players to see it who only know dunmer culture from Solstheim because it feels like the authentic extension of that

TBF part of the color shift between Oblivion and Skyrim is also just because Cyrodiil has a much nicer climate, this takes place BEFORE things really went to shit and Cyrodiil is the nicest place to live in Tamriel by a longshot. So even if you ignore the trends it makes sense for Oblivion to be a bit "comfycore".

I think it's almost disingenuous or even patronizing to call Skyblivion a mod. Technically it is a mod to Skyrim, but moreover it's a "Total conversion project" because it replaces the entire game. Total conversion projects are just as difficult to make as a game in itself. We don't call New Vegas a mod, even though technically New Vegas is "just a mod" for Fallout 3, it just happened to be an official project.
Not a criticism, you the best, but let's give these guys the credit they deserve. They ain't making a mod, they're making a whole-ass game!
If you do end up playing Oblivion, the biggest DLC is the quest about "The Strange Door" in the middle of the southern river. Save that until after the main quest, it makes more sense story-wise that way.

You my friend, do not understand the true power of the skyrim mod community. There is a full different game that is inspired by a skyrim mod. Might even be by the same person. Another one, Using the skyrim game, someone created a game size mod called enderal. The skyrim modding community is insane.

i played through Oblivion back in the day and i enjoyed it quite a bit. i didnt like it as much as Skyrim, i had some issues with it, but it was a solid game for sure. remaking it with the Skyrim engine guarantees that Skyblivion is gonna be insane.

The Skyrim modding scene is amazing! you also have Skywind which is A fan remake of Morrowind in the Skyrim engine. & There is also the Beyond Skyrim team that want to add all of Tamriel as fan made expansions for Skyrim itself. Skyrim has one the most amazing mod communities out there!
There are so many huge crazy awesome mods coming, bro. The game is totally immortal
