Honestly I’m just glad the Apollo justice trilogy came out physically on switch, that was awesome. Especially since the 3ds eshop had closed
I’m fine with being patient this year. From my perspective, this has been a really fantastic year to catch up on my backlog. I just played both NieR games and they were incredible.
I’m now giving Chrono Cross on the DS a shot and loving it.
I’m glad you used this year to get into Dragon Quest…I plan to play it at some point as well
This might be a weird take, but just an observation from me from watching a lot of youtube. It seems like most of the burnout for the Switch seems to be from people who cover news on Nintendo pretty regularly, and maybe a small vocal group on sites like Twitter and Reddit who follow gaming news in general. I think there's a lot of people who aren't online a lot who are totally content with the third party offerings and their backlog on the Switch. Because a lot of people I talk to outside of the gaming sphere don't even feel like this console is over seven years old. And since most people who actively play several games a year have a Switch alongside another console like the PS5, Series S/X, or PC, they have other things to play in the meantime. Granted the first party output from Microsoft and Sony are kinda light this year too. All these gaming companies must've pushed too much quality content out last year and didn't save enough for 2024 😅 But me personally, I'm happy for the extra time to tackle my backlog and save some money right now

Maybe it's just me but I find it really strange that there are strict Nintendo fans that only play first-party games like they're afraid to offend someone if they play third-party or indie games.
I'm really not happy with how they've been handling this year by taking the 2020 approach. It seems the April Direct isn't happening according to Brazil. Its so frustrating. They had no Direct in February and the news came out the Switch successor is being delayed. Its left us completely in the dark for the year and it feels like they have no backup plan. They've effectively killed all hype and momentum they had coming out of 2023.
Honestly, I've always been suspicious in a Nintendo Direct in April. My BS radar was going off on it especially when some of the YouTubers were too invested on it and weren't considering any of the potential worst case scenarios that could come out.
If there isn't a Direct when do you think we might get a new Paper Mario trailer? I'm convinced there'll be something new in some form in the game even if it's not some big sidestory with Luigi (Which I think is a bit too much to expect) but we're getting closer and closer to release. I was curious and looked it up and I believe it was about this far out roughly (If not earlier) that they revealed SMRPG would have post-game boss rematches before the game released. The series is a huge deal to me so admittedly it's the main thing I'm waiting for atm. I feel like that NPC Toad that wasn't in the original game but showed up in the first trailer is a bigger deal than people are really thinking, not just because they have a unique design unlike anything in the original game (which is interesting given the whole controversy over the later series generic Toad syndrome) but because in the original game (unless they removed it in the remake which would suck) Goombella could tattle every single NPC, so any additional NPCs would also require multiple new dialogue, I feel like that makes adding new ones perhaps a little more work, even if I definitely get you could argue she can just simply say something generic like "This guy's sure dressed up for the arena." it just feels to me like adding new NPCs would only be done if they had a really good reason for it.
I’ve always got plenty of back log so I ain’t worried. Also there’s always games coming out even without big releases so I am good. I am on the other hand just very nervous to learn more on Nintendo’s next gen. If it’s not backwards compatible with Switch carts and a hybrid console then I’ll be crushed.
No Switch 2 lol wait for the June direct they will announce much more titles. Then again in the September direct even more titles

I did not get my hopes up for Silksong in the indie showcase yesterday, the worst part about Silksong not being in the triple I initiative was that they literally teased it during the countdown and it still wasn't in there lmao
I expect we get something around June since that's usually when they announce the big stuff.

If we literally don’t get anything until June I think we’re getting switch 2 this year. Because if we’re getting it 2025, then it would’ve made perfect sense to have a direct in April
We may not gonna have the April direct until at least June or so. The second half of Nintendo's lineup is there but cannot be leaked online. There is, no doubt, another Zelda game coming out later in 2024 but maybe not the HD ports for a November launch.
They will reveal things.
