Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Deimos as New Playable Character in Operation Daily Omen Season

Today Ubisoft fully revealed the content for the next season of its popular online squad shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, titled “Operation Daily Omen.”

The season will become available on the test server next week and will release on the live servers on March 12.

The center piece of the operation if as usual its operator, who is predictably last year’s antagonist Deimos, whose identity we just learned yesterday.

Deimos is an attacker and his DeathMARK Tracker gadget lets him track a defender for a certain period of time, basically enabling the player to hunt down their target.

His weapon loadout includes an AK-74M assaulty rifle or a M5904A1 shotgun as primary weapon, and the unique .44 Vendetta revolver as a sidearm. This is important, because the Vendetta is very powerful, but it’s the only weapon Deimos can use while tracking an enemy.

You can check him out in action below.

Shields and attachments are going to get a revamp, alongside the time for aiming down sights. Azami is also going to be rebalanced.

The season will also bring the Locker, a new inventory management menu dedicated to cosmetics. The developers are improving the Versus AI Playlist with more operators and maps for players who want to learn without the pressure of playing against other humans.

Capping the season’s features is a renewed effort to combat cheating with data bans based on machine learning, ranked playlist restrictions, and new strike teams to update current solutions like the QB anti-cheat and Mousetrap

To access ranked gameplay, inactive players (who have not played for a whole season or more) will need to win at least five quick matches, while new players will need to clear level 50 (as they did before), plus have at least 10 attacking and 10 defending operators.

You can hear about all of this directly from the developers in the recorded panel below.

Speaking of cosmetics, we also get the reveal of a new Elite set for Ying

This is not all fans of Rainbow Six Siege are getting this weekend, as Year 9 and its roadmap will be revealed tomorrow, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. PST, 1:00 p.m. EST, 6:00 p.m. GMT, or 7:00 p.m. CET.

Rainbow Six Siege is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’d like to learn more about what’s currently on the live servers, you can take a look at the reveal of the previous season, Operation Deep Freeze, and its operator, Tubarão
