Club Chaos is finally here, and after months of waiting, SEGA has now confirmed that the event will include sneak peeks and special announcements for Sonic’s 35th anniversary.

So naturally, the big question is… what are they actually going to show?

There has been so much speculation around the next mainline Sonic game, and Club Chaos feels like one of the most interesting opportunities we’ve had in a very long time to finally get something new.

In this video, we’re going through everything surrounding the next Sonic game, what could potentially be revealed at Club Chaos, and why I genuinely think this could be a very important moment for the future of Sonic.

For the sake of the video, I’ll be calling the game “Sonic Frontiers 2” whenever I’m talking about the possible next open zone game, but obviously that is just a placeholder name. SEGA has not officially announced a game called Sonic Frontiers 2.

We’ve already seen Sonic Team take the open zone idea from Frontiers and build an entirely different style of 3D Sonic around it. Frontiers gave Sonic much more freedom to explore, introduced a much bigger focus on combat and movement, and completely changed the way a mainline Sonic game could be structured.

The interesting part now is figuring out where Sonic Team goes from here.

Does the next game continue with open zones?

Does it make the world considerably bigger?

Could Sonic’s movement be completely overhauled?

Could we finally have multiple playable characters from the beginning?

And how much of what made Frontiers work would actually carry over?

There have also been plenty of rumours about the next game being something much bigger than people are expecting, with some reports even suggesting that the game could have a stronger connection to the wider Sonic universe.

None of that should be treated as confirmed, though.

That’s what makes Club Chaos so interesting.

SEGA has actually told us that there will be special announcements and sneak peeks, so for once we aren’t completely making up the idea of new information being shown. We just don’t know how big those announcements are going to be.

Could we finally see the next mainline Sonic game?

Could we get a small teaser rather than a full trailer?

Could SEGA show the logo, the new Sonic design, a new location, or even a tiny piece of gameplay?

Or are we getting completely baited and the big announcement turns out to be something nobody saw coming? 😭

And then we have Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

The fourth Sonic movie is officially coming to cinemas on 19 March 2027, and we’ve already had the first teaser. That means we’re now getting very close to the point where Paramount needs to properly start showing people what this movie is actually about.

There are already plenty of questions surrounding the film.

Amy is coming.

Metal Sonic is expected to be a major part of the story.

Shadow is still around after the events of Sonic 3.

Eggman is obviously another huge question.

And we still don’t really know how all of these characters are going to fit together.

So when exactly is that first proper Sonic 4 trailer coming?

Could Club Chaos be involved?

Could we get a teaser for the trailer?

Could Paramount suddenly drop the full trailer?

Or will the trailer arrive separately sometime in October or November?

The timing is honestly really interesting, especially with Sonic 4 releasing in March 2027.

And then there’s the next Sonic game.

If SEGA really is preparing to reveal something soon, I want to know what direction they’re taking the series in.

Frontiers was such a massive change for Sonic that the next game has a lot to live up to. I don’t think Sonic Team needs to completely abandon what Frontiers did, but I also don’t want the next game to feel like Frontiers with a different map.

Club Chaos could give us our first proper look at what Sonic’s next era is going to be.
