Jonesy CAN refer to Jones as a nickname but it normally means a "snapshot" of Jones. A "snapshot" is basically like a clone of a person or a version of them copied from a brief moment in time. There's various Jonesys that are all snapshots of the real Jones, who is the character we follow here. This is pretty pedantic overall but just to help; "Jones" normally refers to the character we follow here, "Jonesy" normally refers to Jones' snapshots around the island
