The game started as a Sonic-universe only racing game and I honestly was entirely excited as I do not particularly care for other SEGA franchises (maybe Alex Kidd and some Master System franchises out of nostalgia), but now it boils down to "Guest characters the racing game (ft. some Sonic characters) it's just… I honestly wasn't expecting that and I really hoped it didn't come to this. The only non-guest DLC character coming is a skin for Sonic like… wow.
I was expecting the roster to have Sonic characters from all the licences, the likes of Sticks, Orbot / Cubot, Gamma, the Flickies (yes those birds from Sonic 3D Blast), Belle, Surge, Kit, Scratch, Grounder, Sonya, Manic, a MOTOBUG (the very first one from Green Hills), Tikal, Chaors, more Zetis, Sally, Silver Sonic…
Heck even maybe Balan as a guest character he's very Sonic-coded. But now the roster is half guest characters and we strayed away so bloody far from a Sonic racing game and it's now a Sega Racing game all over again and I am not a fan of that, especially when the guests are just all over the place and one after the other it just tries so hard to be a racing-version of Fortnite.
I was waiting a bit more to buy the game, for Christmas but I only don't want to anymore because I just wanted a Sonic game and it's not it anymore because I was afraid it will come to this in the end, despite the intiial roster being only Sonic characters. :/
