New PS5 Showcase Coming / The Future of PlayStation
It’s not typical for these major showcases to land so close to each other, but claims made recently by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb may be an indicator that Sony is bucking that trend. During a recent stream, Grubb said:
I’ve heard that there will be a PlayStation ‘something’ – either a State of Play or a Showcase, next month in May, so this is probably going to be there.
The ‘this’ he was referring to is Silent Hill 2, the remake that was recently classified by the ESRB and given an M for Mature rating. It was noted that it would be exactly a year since the last PlayStation Showcase – a much more major event compared to a State of Play.

In February, Google cloud vulnerability researcher Andy Nguyen revealed that he and a small team of other Google engineers had managed to hack the device to play games locally, running a PSP emulator natively offline.
On Monday the PlayStation Portal received a new firmware update to version 2.06, and Nguyen later confirmed on X that it contained a fix for the hack, one his team had helped Sony to identify.
“We responsibly reported the issues to PlayStation,” Nguyen wrote. “Bugs are fixed on 2.06.”
Before he joined Google, Nguyen had previously released PS Vita jailbreaks and explosed PS4 vulnerabilities. However, at the time of the Portal hack’s original announcement, Nguyen made it clear that his team had no intention to release its details to the public.
Indeed, given his current role at Google as a cloud vulnerability researcher, it appeared clear that Nguyen’s hack was simply designed to highlight the way seemingly streaming-only devices can still be exploited to run software locally.
“The video quality and bitrate is day and night different, and better,” wrote one user. “Even in demanding games you can see all the details in full without pixelation.” Another user noted that they tried Final Fantasy 7, Uncharted, Madden, and Guardians of the Galaxy — all of which “look amazing” with no issues in picture quality. However, they said that some games still stutter a bit.
On the stuttering front, others echoed similar sentiments while some users said that they didn’t notice any changes at all.
Sony has said that those who boot up PlayStation Portal for the first time will be required to go through a series of updates concecutively as opposed to simply downloading the latest patch.

Ps5 has just been a bunch of remakes and remasters not really many originality games that push ps5 to it's full potential

I think the "standards" are woefully misplaced. Does he have integrity? Is he honest? Is he kind? Would he be a good father? How does he treat his parents? How does he treat his friends? Is he humble? ALL of these characteristics imo are what differentiates high value and low value men. But no, is he tall and is he loaded are of the highest priority characteristics. A shame.

So basically what they're trying to do is build another handheld that's going to make the portal irrelevant because their next handheld is going to rival the steam deck and the PlayStation 5 is most likely going to act as the gaming bass just like with the portal.
Listen I wouldn't worry about people who are going to get the pro, because it's all people like me who were either a waiting for the pro no matter what anyways or be refused to buy a PlayStation 5 when scalpers were selling them and then it came around so close to the pro releasing that we said f*** it we're going to wait until the pro releases anyways and then this year they released the slim without the pro a lot of us got fed up and just said you know what we're going to buy a slim now to play these games like rebirth and Spider-Man 2 etc, what is the pro releases we will go out and get the pro anyways. I know that's what I did because I just got my PS5 in November when they released the slim & the Spider-Man 2 bundle. I literally told myself I'm going to get a PS5 now because A) if they don't release a pro I'm going to be pissed off that I didn't get a PS5 for all that time and then a new system is getting ready to release, b) even if a pro releases we're still going to run into the risk factor of all these scalpers buying the systems up before we can get to him unless Sony decides to do something where they only release them physically to places and then they sell them online themselves at a one per person or a two-person set up. But either way who wants to risk that? That's why I decided and said to myself listen I'm going to get it now with a disk drive, although I do wish I had waited on the disc drive because if the disc drive isn't compatible and they use a different one for the pro models I'm going to be pissed that I have to buy a second disc drive unless of course I keep my original PlayStation 5 just for the disk drive. Which to be honest it doesn't make any sense because my original plan for all this was if the pro comes out and I upgrade to a pro I'll give my PS5 to my nephew and niece
I don't want much these days. An updated Sega Mega Drive Collection, an uncut remastered collection of the Manhunt & Motorstorm games, or at the very least to be able to play them all on the streaming service.

Can someone tell me why the new firmware update is only available in the U.S? Furthermore why the PS5 media remote voice command is only available in the U.S despite the fact the media remote is sold in other countries like Canada.

The PS5 Pro is an upgrade console for hardcore users…orly? I don't have ps5 yet. I've been holding out for the Pro specifically because I knew there'd be one and see no reason to spend over $1000 buying both the basic one and the Pro when you can hold out and spend JUST $650ish. The Pro isn't just an upgrade console for the hardcore users. It's also an easy buy for the smarter users that are patient and would rather wait for the better tech versions. Out of touch and braindead statement.

I own a portal and love it however my experience may differ rom others because my PS5 is connected to gigabit ethernet with the wifi turned off and haven't experienced any real disturbing latency issues.

What needs to happen is the game studios need to get together and say we're going to make a specific type of disc that can be played on anything that plays disc for example I can take a DVD or Blu-ray play it in my house my console and PC every unit that plays those discs are different for example car units you got Sony car units then you have Alpine because I think it's BS can I buy a game you can only use it on one particular thing if I buy a DVD or CD I can use it anywhere.
It's not fair that we buy games I can't play it on nothing but a PS console.
On another note you should be able to go to the PlayStation Plus app on a computer and not just play what that particular app has but it should include the game library that I paid for that I can access on PC or mobile now some might say well that takes away from the marketing on the PS consoles not if it's restricted to only registered console owners….

I'm not interested in Ghost of Tsushima 2. Sony has so many IPs they don't revisit….Sucker Punch should remake Infamous 1 and 2. Second Son was okay, but not as good as the earlier ones.
