The Halloween asymmetric multiplayer game is coming — and it’s being made by Illfonic and Gun Interactive. We break down whether the design choices in the new trailer are actually built to last, or if this is just another horror multiplayer headed for the graveyard to join Friday the 13th the game and TCM
Map design, NPC systems, and sustainability — here’s what the trailer actually tells us.

Thank you all for watching! I would like to clear a few things up. Gun Interactive is not developing this game, I brought up their past just to simply show their shaky track record with games. They are co-publishing this game with some financial assistance. That being said I should have dug deeper than I did because Gun actually has less power with this title than they did with past games, they are more of a helping hand. Illfonic has way more skin in the game with this project and it won’t technically die if Gun walks away. I do apologize for not doing more deeper research on that part. Does that change how you feel about this game? Or is Illfonics past enough to keep you away?
Uh… the trailer sucks, the animations are goofy i mean look at the run animation, also the model taken from tcm and some animations also,
Here's my two cents:
The game is not going to fail.
They have not only been adament several times about it being longterm but with the backing this game has (Malek Akkad, Trancas AND John Carpenter himself) there is no way they are letting, by far, the biggest horror IP they will potentially ever have just die…
On top of that, there is a Single Player / Campaign. With it being an actual fleshed out story (written by Adam F. Goldberg), that includes multiple alternate endings, features loads of collectibles and will probably be a fair few hours long… Already, that is a huge plus.
After seeing gameplay, particularly from people who attended PAX, it has been largely positive. Many players even saying it is the best Asym game they have played from the killer's perspective.
The fact we have Single Player and we don't HAVE to rely on multiplayer and PvP, so many people are gonna have much more fun just stalking and killing NPCs. I know I'm one of them. Hell, I probably won't even touch multiplayer, unless it's key for progression.
Lastly, to tackle some comments that I've seen:
GUN is literally a financer and marketer. They have absolutely no say whatsoever when it comes to the actual game.
The release date I've seen peoppe complaining about. September is a perfect release date.
You want, at the very least, a good month to really get familiar with the game. But ontop of that, the Fall season starts in September. By definition alone, you're playing the game, upon release, throughout the ENTIRE fall season. And then it comes to their first DLC release. What better time to release your first major DLC than October?
This game will be the gem they need to officially put them on the map. It is gonna slap and I'm tired of people bashing it already.
fuck anyone that wants a "battle pass" yall have ruined games
friday the 13th was my fav game, i'm pre ordering halloween
Just give me a good single-player experience and I'll be happy. Always putting these Horror icons into exclusive online experiences is really getting under my skin now.
Well, I guess this means theres no shot at Friday the 13th EVER coming back
Next gonna be Freddy
Hopefully I will be on the Nintendo switch offline play
The jason one was good didnt it only die because of licensing issues?
Texas Chainsaw was a fantastic game. Fucking loved it.
I really want to see maps from the halloween movies, I would love to see Laurie Strode make an appearance, and I would love for Michael to have skins from other halloween movies as well, they could even come with movie exclusive kills like Rob Zombie’s halloween having Michael be more brutal. This game has so much potential and im here for it all
dude they are just going to publish the game and then stop updating
yALL COMPLAIN TOO MUCH MAN. I played F13 and TCM for years, shit was a good game man. yall just be wanting shit to cry about
I’m a single player only gamer, which really bums me out when some of my favorite IPs are mostly only multiplayer. As much as I’d love to dive into these horror games, I just refuse to cave in to asymmetric gaming.
Friday The 13th has a lot of flaws in the gameplay itself which is why I gave up on it within a year.
The flaws I'm talking about are big ones where the first one is the time limit which is 20 minutes that wouldn't be bad if I could leave the match after I died waiting 20 minutes if I died too soon but there is no exit option to join another match, another mistake is escaping Jason hand grab which is basically impossible 99% of the time which is how I die early and the escape button doesn't work worth of shit, and the achievements were a pain in the ass to complete as I said about the time limit is why I never complete most of them because I don't want waste time doing 1313 hours or do 1313 matches after all who wants waste time playing a game where you can't anything after you died.
At least in Evil Dead you can back after one of your teammates revives you as well the time limit is 15 minutes but in Friday The 13th you'll be waiting a long ass time after dying.
The community is gonna ruin this.. not purchasing lol.. I see nothing but glitchers and exploiters in this games future. Single is where they need to focus on like they did with alien isolation
Bro Texas chain saw massacre was actually so fun and unique I grinder at first , enjoyed it for a while then as you said support ended and even when there was support it was minimal , took them forever to release content that they had endless amounts of. Unfortunate , I’ll still get the Halloween one because of the nostalgia , and it looks more like Friday the 13th than Texas chain saw so I prefer it
Holy AI script
ChatGPT ahh writing. and uhh just gotta say, anyone who actually buys this game is a chump. theyre just stealing your money
I was gonna subscribe and like the video, but even my sleep deprived brain can tell even with 2x speed this is ai scripted dude wth
Friday died bcuz of a lawsuit
FT13TH was NOT their fault 😭
Also it’s apparently gonna have a full on single player mode too so that’ll really help
the halloween trailer does not look good, dam bro yall gotta have some standards.
Halloween multiplayer will be trash people are going to play it then they're going to stop😂😂 it ain't nothing but copy and pate video game which is sad yeah they have new mechanic but people don't care about that as long as the game play feels good if it don't the game will shut down😂😂😂
FANTASTIC VIDEO! SUBBED!
I’m gonna buy this so I really hope it doesn’t die so my money isn’t for nothing
Your ai slop bores me
It's just been done too many times before at this point.
It don’t come close to tcm is just a killer clowns from out of space dlc
The problem that these games all have in common is that they're multiplayer games with no single player element to them and the problem with that is the horror community is a very small. And the video game horror community is even smaller. There is almost zero interaction between Friday the 13th fans and video gamers. So putting those two together just doesn't work especially in a multiplayer setting where you need 10 plus people to even allow the game to function. I always thought it was stupid that they keep producing these multiplayer games and not just make single player story driven horror games using these IPs. That would be a lot longer shelf life. And sure you can stack on a multiplayer element. Honestly I don't really have much else to say. But the main problem with me is all these are multiplayer games they're not single player. And multiplayer games just don't last long. Especially when you have fortnite call of duty etc. That millions of people play and people even horror fans aren't really going to stop playing these games to play some multiplayer game that's going to be the same experience every time.
I think it’s really going to depend on the strength of the single-player option. The problem with any asymmetrical game (ever) is that people get really good at them to the point where anyone who wants to get into the game is either intimidated away before trying, blow so far out of the water in match 1 they don’t come back, or, worse, they get salty and tell everyone to avoid it.
If the single-player option was actually good, new players could practice to get decent before joining the fray OR they could just hang out in that single-player world.
I know this is an asymmetrical at the end of the day but if Gun wants MONEY, they’d invest in a strong single-player campaign that gets casual players talking to their friends. “Oh, it’s so fun! Some levels you’re Michael, some levels you’re someone else,” etc. You don’t have to rely on random spawning of people or placements in this campaign – it could be scripted and far more linear.
But it makes people new to this franchise/playing world feel excited and way more comfortable with the controls.
And THEN – after the campaign is said and done – these players dip their toes into the online multiplayer and, yes, they get smashed. But the option to play as Michael offline to work on your skills and then go back and try again? That’s going to be what keeps them in the game. That’s going to be what makes them recommend it to their friends. The learning curve is gentle and fun because of the single-player options and the unending replayability is there EITHER as live or alone.
Nice video but you seem to be hearting and replying to all the comments besides the ones about you using AI
Is this videogamesdonkey in disguise?
Hopefully we can get future maps on , like the hospital from Halloween 2, or the private school from H20
