It looks like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is on track to meet its February release date. This week, a new teaser was shared, giving us a new look at some of the ‘iconic content’ coming in this remake.
While it was originally supposed to release this year, followed by a brand-new Tomb Raider adventure in 2027, plans changed earlier this year. Now, Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the original Tomb Raider, is coming out on February 12th, while the next new / original game in the series is set to come out at a later date, possibly slipping into 2028.
The new trailer shared over the weekend shows quick cuts of Lara Croft exploring various tombs, with brief snippets of combat, puzzle solving and exploration.
While we’ve had remasters of the original 1996 Tomb Raider in previous years, this is the first time we’ve seen a full remake targeting modern graphics. Lara Croft has a different look, and all of the levels are packed with far more realistic design and details. However, the core gameplay loop is largely the same – explore, climb, shoot down enemies with your dual-pistols, solve puzzles and dodge traps.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst will follow Legacy of Atlantis in 2028, offering a fresh new adventure, although it is unclear exactly where this game slots in to the wider Tomb Raider timeline, all we know for sure is that it doesn’t connect to the more recent reboot trilogy.
KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to the return of Tomb Raider? Unfortunately, February next year is looking especially packed, so it is going to be hard for me deciding between this and Fable.
