Top 25 Indie Space Games to Wishlist For 2026!

We’re wrapping up the year by looking ahead to the future of space games. In this video I’m counting down 25 space games you NEED to wishlist for 2026 – from hardcore space sims and starfighter MMOs to deep 4X strategy, story-driven space RPGs, and some incredible niche indie projects flying under the radar on Steam.

You’ll see a mix of realistic space simulators, tactical space combat games, space trading and mining sandboxes, colony management titles, and grand strategy in the stars – all upcoming or in active development, all worth keeping an eye on if you love sci-fi and PC gaming. Whether you’re into cockpit dogfighting, commanding fleets, running a space corporation, or exploring the far edge of the galaxy, there should be something here for your 2026 wishlist.

I know many of these titles. For me X4 is the best if you want a complex space Sim where flight, economy, diplomacy, strategy, base and ship building, story quests and a persistent fully simulated universe are your cup of tea. You don't need to do all of these things, but you can. Just plan some weekends to get into it fully. 😅

Not sure if it's a game you've already checked out or not (it's been in production for quite some time) but The Crust is a great space game as well to check out 🙂 (It's similar to Possible One: Lunar Industries from this list)

Great list. Curious to see which of these actually turn into worlds people keep returning to, not just games people try once.

Certainly! Hers a more short and witty version woven in the tapestry of mystery of the void, it's not just space food it's space snacks.

Fun fact – half of the list of incoming 2026 games looks like "hello" from 2006 year.

Is the new battlestar game why Deadlock got delisted? We already had a really damn good Battlestar game.

Thank you for puting this list together. The Falling Froniter: After reading the developers notes on steam, I seriousily doubt it will be released anytime soon and especially not in 2026. The developer only states continual refinement and nothing is completed after muliple years of release schedules missed. My son and I were reviewing which games we want get this year in which I had talked up The Falling Froniter. Now I'll turn this into example of how not to run a software developer studio. Good luck Stutter Fox Studios

I'm trying to control my hype because to be honest most games don't meet expectations anymore. But I'm extremely excited about Expanse Osiris reborn. It makes me think of when Mass effect first came out and ME2 too. 🤞🏻 That's it's good

Fallen Frontier, the game that was going to release years ago and never did

So many of these are combat focused, and/or about stripping resources. I find that really sad. Is this all we can imagine for our future in space?

Thank you for the video. I'm always looking for the next SFI-FI Game to play. I appreciate that you put chapters in it, along with having them listed below.

One suggestion though, when you start talking about the next game in your video, could you add the title to the video. TY!
