If PlayStation goes digital-only, consumers lose a lot of control. You’re buying a license, not a copy you can keep, resell or lend. Sony has already removed 300+ purchased StudioCanal movies and 1,300+ seasons of Discovery content from users’ libraries due to licensing issues. In gaming, PT was removed from PSN, while The Crew was made completely unplayable after its servers were shut down. Games can also be delisted, making them impossible to purchase later. Digital-only means more control for Sony and less control for the consumer.
Sony hates used games, they hate what built the entire console gaming industry, our ability to buy, and own, and do what we like with a game. They hate us having some of the value, they dont think we the customer deserve it, and they want it all for themselves. This will lead to their demise.

Guys, what about Kratos randomly teleporting to Ancient Egypt? I know that would make no sense but Id love such a game.
I have around 2,550 original movies. Of those, I’ve found that 4 Blu-rays are defective. But I’ve already lost about 50 streaming purchases. Plus, Blu-rays are MINE, and we don’t even need to talk about the fact that the bitrate is significantly higher and that dubbed versions can’t be swapped out or scenes removed after the fact. Plus, this shelf is a beautiful sight. And when you consider that Sony is once again removing movies and even plans to eliminate the disc drive in the PS6… who’s even going to buy this sham of a product anymore? I’m so angry at Sony for this. They’re only doing this so that eventually you won’t be able to play your games anymore and will have to buy the next remaster. This also puts a stop to reselling used media… If Sony doesn’t back down, I’m done with the company. We’ve simply drifted too far apart over the last few years. But that also means I wouldn’t buy a Sony TV anymore because of their anti-consumer stance.

Sony, once you launch a new console, you abandon the old ones—physical games become unplayable, and as for digital titles, once the old store shuts down, you can't even download them anymore. There is simply no guarantee when buying your digital games, yet they cost more than on other platforms. As someone who has owned every console from the PS1 to the PS5, I’m ready to leave you behind and switch to PC gaming.
