Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 – Official Necron Faction Overview Trailer

Ancient. Immortal. Unstoppable. Get a deep dive into the gameplay of the Necron faction in this latest Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 trailer for the upcoming real-time strategy game. Witness the return of the Necrons as they restore their tombs, expand their domain to earn their Dominion resource across Kronus, and awaken ancient engines of war.

As the Necron reclaim Kronus, they expand their domain to earn resources across the battlefield by restoring ancient structures and activating their Power Matrix, steadily turning the war in their favor. At the center of their growing empire stands the Tomb Citadel, which also serves as the production engine for your units.

Leading their forces are two powerful commanders: the Chronomancer Thothmek, who bends time to disrupt enemies and accelerate Necron reanimation, and Ahmnok, once ruler of Kronus, consumed entirely by the urge to annihilate all life.

With self-repairing legions, unyielding constructs, and ancient technologies that bend space, time, and probability, the Necrons do not adapt to war; they outlast it.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will be available on PC on September 17, 2026.

Since DoW2 canonized the Blood Raven's victory on Kronus in the Dark Crusade, it seems the new necron forces are a separate force who arrived on the planet and repurposed the tombs buried by rubble the first time around.

Necrons and orks have been my two favorite factions since dawn of War 1, also my first armies for the tabletop as well when I finally took the plunge. So this will be day one for me!

Dear developers, do you know the lore of the universe you're developing a game for? Why is a nameless Cryptek leading a Necron army? Don't you know that Crypteks are scientists, not nobles? Crypteks have no power, no authority (with very rare exceptions). Why is a nameless scientist leading a Necron legion into battle? And what about the second hero? A Lord from the Destroyer Cult? If there's a Destroyer Lord here, there should be a horde of his cult followers alongside him, but you only have two Destroyer Cult units. Did you know that Necron dynasties shun Necrons possessed by the Destroyer virus? Did you know that this virus is infectious to Necrons? Have you even opened a single book about Necrons? Did you even read anything before taking on your work? Where's the Lord or Overlord? What nonsense is this?

So why did they chose total war for this title? I love total war, but I love warhammer 40k also I believe company of hero's devs would of done a much better job of this. Yes I get warhammer 1 to 3 etc but for warhammer 40k this is wrong im expecting a failure of highest level sadly. Medieval 3 tho be amazing

Sad that reanimations protocols haven't been featured in the slightest. They're one of the most iconic Necron traits..

I couldnt stop smiling, the animations are so sublime. Not what I had imagined from the tabletop, but VERY Necron-like. I love it.

Really excited to play the necrons
But does anyone else get what i mean when i say the necrons look soft and round and just less intimidating than original DoW's necrons especially because they want to stick to the miniture models as close as possible unlike in the original where they were more detailed?

they gotta fix that green laser animation. it goes 0 to 100 too fast. a little lag time or fade should be added.

Favatar

Why do they keep giving guardsman autogun instead of lasgun?

Favatar

This game looks cool visually and I love necrons, but man… I could just never get into this type of gameplay.

I feel for Ahmnok. I would also be absorb in a hunger nihilistic butchery if my hypeman, Thomas Macabbe, became non-canon.

This looks so good, but my pc can’t run it, and simply can’t justify the purchase of a new one just for at few games I want to play on pc rather than consol, with the extreme increases on hardware prices lately

okay guys, maybe just me nitpicking.. but i really dont like the synchronised walking and shooting of necrons. also because lorewise it feels so weird. why would a necron not fire as soon as its targetted an enemy. "hold up, gotta wait till my buddy also targets something before i can shoot.". also visually ik makes it look a little clanky IMO. that said i just cant wait for this game to come out. never thought they would make part 4 after the flop that 3 was.

Please tell me, individual Models fight.
It would be unbearable for anyone who likes DoW1+2, to see that units only have optical models, but they all behave as one,in collision, fighting etc.

Favatar

Love it!! Can't wait until the 17th.

So Ahmnok, the Overlord of Kronus from the DoW: Dark Crusade game succumed to the destroyer curse and became a Skorpekh Lord via the Nightbringer shard.

I mean, he was popping that transformation like bubble wrap
